Just an update

It has been a while since I have posted anything because it is just crazy how time gets away from you. I will be returning to Haiti May 5th to the 17th and it is going to be so jammed packed with things to do, that I sometimes don't know where to start. When I go back this time, I want to start teaching some simple financial education classes. This is stepping way out of the box for me. I'm not really a teacher in the manner that you stand up in front of a class and spout facts. I'm more of a discussion type of person. So, I am attempting to come up with a plan that uses both....

What Does It Mean To Be Content?

Are you content with your life? If not, why not? What would it take for that to happen? More money? More time? More meaningful pursuits? Less drama? Less stress? Less people depending on you? We all have to deal with frustrations, that's a fact of life. But, do we let these frustrations take over and rule our lives?    In my most recent trip to Haiti, the subject concerning the contentment of the Haitian people seem to keep coming to the surface. How do the Haitian people seem content when most of them have so little? Frankly, when you have a lot, you are spending a lot of time being concerned about what you have. In our western mindsets,...

God's Timing

How many of us have totally questioned God's timing? I'm not talking about the times when we marvel about His timing; I'm talking about the times that we are pushing at God for Him to get moving. Even when we know to be still and know that He is God is best, we still push, push, push. Believe me, I am probably the worst person to wait around for anything or anyone. The bad part is,that 25 years ago I was a whole lot less patient. My daughters are 14 years apart, and I still chuckle when I think of the older one telling the younger one how much more patient I was with her. She's right. I was a terror when...

What About Our Time?

As I become more and more involved in leadership aspects of the church and of Regenesis Project there is one thing that has become painfully clear- what about our time? Growing up in the church, I can remember that time every year that the topic of stewardship and/or tithing would be talked about from the pulpit. In our culture today, you don't hear a lot of about even this subject. Why is money such a difficult subject? And if money is a difficult subject, don't even begin to talk about how much time someone has. We are supposed to as Christians, give to God our first fruits. That means the best. I generally as a rule, don't have a whole lot...

Haiti in My Heart

For a while before the earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, I had a stirring in my heart for Haiti. There is no explanation for it, except that God put it there in anticipation of the plans that he has for me .I have a friend who has a gift for prophecy, who once told me that I would be going somewhere extremely poor and doing work there. At the time, I actually told him that he was a few cards short of a full deck, but he said to wait and see. Oh yea of little faith! Very soon I will be embarking on my 5th trip to Haiti. I can talk and try to explain what draws my...
